About
A travel guide for people who want to experience places.
CHINTAI is published by CHINTAI TRAVEL LLC. We write about the world the way you actually meet it: on foot, slightly early, usually hungry, often lost in a good way.
Our mission
Most travel content is written for the search engine first and the traveler second. We are trying to do the reverse. Our mission is simple: help people understand a place well enough that the trip stays with them afterwards. That means writing about timing, habits and context, not just addresses.
The line we keep coming back to is our whole brief. Don't just visit. Experience.
Values
Curiosity over coverage
We would rather write one honest piece about a neighborhood than list forty things to do in a city we barely walked.
Respect for the place
Local life is not a backdrop. We write with the assumption that the people who live somewhere will read what we publish.
Useful, not exhaustive
A guide should shorten your decisions, not lengthen them. We cut anything you would not actually use on the ground.
Independence
No pay to play placements. If a recommendation is here, it is because it earns its space in the story.
Editorial approach
Every article belongs to one of six sections, and each section asks a different question of a destination.
- ExperienceThe small rituals that make a place yours, from market breakfasts to late-night harbor walks.
- TasteFood as a way of understanding. Street stalls, counters, and the dishes worth staying for.
- StayWhere to sleep and why. Neighborhoods over hotels, and the quiet rooms worth the detour.
- ExploreDestination guides that look past the standard route. Cities, islands, mountains, small towns.
- MeetPeople, traditions, festivals, crafts, and the texture of everyday local life.
- WanderWalks, train windows, road trips, and the streets worth getting lost in.
Guides are reviewed and updated as places change. Where something is seasonal or likely to shift, we say so in the piece rather than pretending a city stands still.
Team, culture and careers
CHINTAI is a small editorial team working with a rotating group of writers and photographers around the world. We work remotely, we edit each other hard, and we believe a good travel piece takes longer than a deadline usually allows.
We open writing and photography vacancies as the guide grows. If you have somewhere you know deeply and want to write about it properly, send a short pitch and two samples to hello@chintai-travel.com. We read everything, and we answer the ones we can take further.
